I had the best intentions...
When I mixed all of these
beautiful guache paints with
gum arabic.
Only to discover
I had mixed too much, I suppose.
They hardened!
To the point of no return.
They ended up in the garbage.
Sad!
It all began when I registered for the online class
OH MY GUACHE - FURTHER ADVENTURES IN SKETCHBOOKERY
with the delightful MARY ANN MOSS - DISPATCH LA
I love taking any and all of Mary Ann's classes.
She is talented and witty!
And I loved using guache for the first time
I have always used acrylics but was so curious about guache
which is like a watercolor acrylic.
I liked the idea that the paint would dry
which is perfect for travel
and then you can re-wet like watercolors
unfortunately, mine did not re-wet!
Her suggestion was to use
a vintage painting for our handmade art journal
I couldn't wait to get one
so I used the vintage card table
I purchased at a yard sale
for $5.00
I loved the floral
I pulled the legs off
cut the floral image down to size
bound the covers
and decoupaged the inside covers
with vintage ledger and wallpaper
I gathered me some
Fabriano Artistico 140lb hotpress
and vintage papers
to create a signature
bound
with velvet ribbon
squished it
between the plates
of an antique book press
i love it!!!
and
began filling pages
with sketches
of flowers
waiting
to be painted
