FOR PLEASURE HAS NO RELISH,
UNLESS WE SHARE IT!
At times, I feel a bit nervous sharing with others the things I create.
It makes me feel vulnerable in more ways than one.
And yet...
My favorite quote by Virginia Woolf -
"For pleasure has no relish unless we share it"
seems true.
This same wisdom was shared in an excellent online live streaming class taught by Jenny Doh called "The Keys to Publishing and Building Creative Momentum" which was recommended to me by an artist I greatly admire.
I would encourage anyone needing that little extra push or voice of encouragement to take this quick but very informative online class. Jenny answered my questions, alleviated concerns and has given me the courage to "allow your brilliance to shine, rather than keeping it bottled up, in a dark place and shaded, close to you and not sharing."
She also reminded me that the process of making art and sharing your art is much more rewarding than "keeping it hidden where it feels safe." And "life is too short to worry about the what if's" in regard to our art.
With that being said -
I have great pleasure in relishing this moment of sharing with you what I have been hiding inside of "a dark place" within the drawers of my art studio for almost a year - the soldered flowers I have created.
I think they are adorable and I hope you find them as pleasing as I do.
The hand dyed velvet under the flowers makes my heart go pitter patter!
My beautiful friend Julie Collings taught me the art of dying silk velvet.
It was so much fun dipping the white silk velvet into bowls of different dyes with the anticipation of what the end result would be.
Julie is an extremely talented artist and I am truly grateful not only for her friendship but also her willingness to share her talents, knowledge and time with me.
If not now, when?
