I would have to say that probably the first artist I began to admire was Claudine Hellmuth. She was the first artist that introduced me to "mixed media" and "collage." I purchased all of her books and her dvd's and began to learn her wonderful techniques.
Claudine is known for her "retro whimsical" artwork. In one of her books she teaches you how to make what she affectionately refers to as "poppets."
I handmade this "poppet" using a vintage image from a magazine, hand painted canvas, stamped birdcage, glitter, sewing machine and detail work.
I just adore everything about Claudine. Her artwork is quite inspiring and her teaching is delightful.
